With this current renovation, the stadium will become the permanent home of the Portland Timbers, who will be joining Major League Soccer. The art budget for the project is $100,000. These competitive awards recognize artists who are creating outstanding artwork, and provide financial support, critical attention and increased exposure for these artists with the aim of fostering their continued artistic and professional development. Through the Awards program, Charlotte Street Foundation seeks to contribute to the vitality of Kansas City’s art community, distinguish Kansas City as a place that values and supports its artists, and enhance its desirability as a place for artists to work and live. Since its establishment in 1997, Charlotte Street Foundation has supported 71 outstanding visual artists through its Visual Artist Awards, with nearly $500,000 distributed directly to the artists. Three Awards of $10,000 are planned for 2011. A curated exhibition of the recipients' work will be presented at the Nerman Mu! seum of Contemporary Art in Overland Park Kansas in fall, 2011. A color brochure with commissioned essay is produced in conjunction with the exhibition.

Colored Pencil Society of America: Explore This! 7VIEW MORE INFOFee: $20.00 (Colored Pencil Society of America: Explore This! 7)Entry Deadline: 11/15/10Juried Online Colored Pencil Exhibition to be displayed at www.cpsa.org. This exhibition allows artists to explore beyond the limitations of 100% colored pencil on flat surfaces. Works must be predominantly in colored pencil and may incorporate other media, techniques, and surfaces as well as 3-dimensional shapes. The goal is to encourage the use of colored pencils with other materials and attract the attention of artists who are not primarily colored pencil artists. Starting in 2009, Explore This! is the only venue where CPSA members can earn CPX signature status which requires three acceptances within a 10 year period. The exhibition features a $1,500 Best of Show award and EXPY award along with other cash awards. The winners of the top three awards will be invited to send their pieces for display in the CPSA International Exhibition in 2011. In addition, a full-color issue of the CPSA news magazine, "To The Point," will showcase the accepted artwork.
Charlotte Street Foundation Urban Culture Project Program Proposals 2011-12VIEW MORE INFOEntry Deadline: 11/15/10Charlotte Street Foundation's Urban Culture Project invites proposals from artists, curators, and culture producers of all disciplines wishing to produce and present original contemporary arts and cultural programming in Urban Culture Project's venues, located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, Proposals will be considered for three Urban Culture Project venues: la Esquina (1000 West 25th Street, KCMO, a 2500 sq foot exhibition/performance/event venue), Paragraph gallery (23 East 12th Street, KCMO, approx. 1000 sq. foot street-level gallery), and Project Space (21 East 12th Street, KCMO, approx. 700 sq. foot street-level exhibition/project space.) Proposals accepted will include, but are not limited to, visual art exhibitions, installations, original live performances (dance, theater, music, performance art, spoken word), film and video screenings, literary readings, lectures and other public programs, and hybrid forms thereof. Adams County Government Center Southeast Entrance SculptureVIEW MORE INFOEntry Deadline: 11/16/10The Adams County (Colorado) Visual Arts Commission (“ACVAC”) is conducting an open entry competition to select an original, permanent, monumental public sculpture to be placed outside the entrance to the Clerk & Recorder’s Office on the southeast side of the new multi-million dollar Adams County Government Center. The Center is currently under construction at 124th Ave. and Sable Blvd., Brighton, Colorado and is due to open in the Spring of 2011. The sculpture will be in an area highly visible from a major highway and to citizens entering the government complex. The mission of the ACVAC is to commission visual art “that reflects our county and its people and speaks to our citizens and the world at large of the depth and breadth of beauty that is Adams County.” Submissions must fit within our mission statement and be appropriate for the location and functions of the Government Center and the specific functions of the Clerk & Recorder’s Office. Submissions that do ! not include at least one original proposal that addresses these issues will not be considered. Particular attention will be paid to monumental submissions that are easily visible from a distance and reflect the customer care and service functions of the Government Center complex. The submissions must be original works and the artist must certify that the work will not be replicated and placed within 100 miles of the site.
