Interested in Art History? Take a look at upcomming events with the Art History Association

Some events that may be of interest for those of you looking into arts and administration, art history, or just art exploration:

There is a call for papers for the 2008 UO undergraduate and graduate Symposium April 25-26 2008
Theme is : Process, Patronage, and Perception.
There will be a Keynote presentation by Stephen Nelson of UCLA.
This two-day symposium will consider the issue of the relationship of art to various external forces, both within the discipline of art history and moore broadly in the arts and humanities.
Topics may include( but by no means limited to..)

* Polirical, Social, and religious influences on art
* Art as a commodity
* Art and architecctural historical influences on perception of artworks
* Relationship between patrons and artists
* Curatorial concerns on perception of artsts and works
* The myth of the starving artist
* Public Response to art exhibitions
* Commercial art
* Any other topic related that you are intersted in that may fit.

Interested graduate students must submit a 250-word abstract and a current curriculum vitae. undergraudate students are expected to submit a 250-word abstract, a compelted paper of approximately 6-8 pages and a current curriculum vitae.

The symposium will also be accompanied by a one-day art auction of works by local artists- if you would like to donate your work or know someone who would be willing to donate work or a service or package please contact Jessica Wilks at jwilks@uoregon.

Abstract and paper submissions are due FEBURARY 29 5pm.
Selecteed Participants will be notified via letters or email around march 3rd.
